Lost Your EICR Certificate? Here Is What to Do
A missing certificate is not a disaster. Here are your options for getting a valid copy back in hand.
Misplaced your EICR? It happens constantly, and it is rarely a problem — provided the inspection itself is still in date.
First, find out if it is still valid
The certificate records the test date and the next-inspection date. If that window has not closed, you simply need a copy of the existing document. If it has expired, you need a fresh inspection anyway, so a lost copy is moot.
Getting a replacement copy
The engineer or company that carried out the inspection keeps a record and can normally reissue the certificate. If you cannot trace them, or you are not sure whether the report is still valid, the safest route is a new EICR — which gives you both a valid certificate and current peace of mind.
