How to Read Your EICR Certificate

Your EICR arrives as a multi-page PDF that can look daunting. It follows a standard structure, though, and once you know the sections it reads quickly.

Start at the summary

Page one carries the overall assessment and the headline details: the address, the engineer, the date, and the recommended date for the next inspection. If the verdict is unsatisfactory, the observations that caused it are usually summarised here too.

Then the schedules

Behind the summary sit the schedule of inspections (the visual checks) and the schedule of test results (the measured readings for each circuit). This is where the numbers live — and where a C1, C2, C3 or FI code will be tied to a specific circuit.
