What Does a Satisfactory EICR Mean?
Satisfactory is the result everyone wants, but it does not mean perfect. Here is what it actually certifies.
A satisfactory EICR is the outcome you are hoping for. It is worth understanding precisely what it certifies — and what it does not.
What satisfactory means
It means the installation is safe for continued use. No dangerous (C1) or potentially dangerous (C2) conditions were found, and nothing required further investigation (FI). The certificate is valid from the date of the test.
What it does not mean
Satisfactory does not mean flawless. A report can pass and still list C3 observations — improvements that are recommended but not required. It also does not mean the installation will stay safe forever, which is why every report carries a date for the next inspection.
Think of it as an MOT for your electrics: a clean bill of health today, with a clear date for the next check.
